If you are a foreign worker, you may be able to apply to Opportunities Ontario for nomination as a permanent resident, under the General Category. Opportunities Ontario targeted 1,000 nominations in 2011. However, it is important to understand that Opportunities Ontario is employer-driven.

Immigrating to Canada

If you want to immigrate to Ontario as a permanent resident under the federal immigration progam, you must first apply with the Government of Canada. The same is true if you want to work or study here temporarily. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is responsible for these programs.
