Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program
Are you an employer having trouble finding the skilled workers you need? Are you an investor who wants to bring key employees on a permanent basis? Are you a foreign worker or international student who would like to live and work permanently in Ontario?
Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program may be the program for you. Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program (Opportunities Ontario) was launched on February 20, 2009.
How it helps employers
Opportunities Ontario helps employers hire the skilled workers they need, but are having difficulty finding, by assisting with the immigration of foreign workers and international students. Through the program, skilled foreign workers and international students may be nominated for permanent resident status in Canada. Opportunities Ontario will target 1,000 nominations in 2010.
August 4, 2010 - Opportunities Ontario has provided additional information on what is acceptable Canadian work experience.
How it helps investors
Opportunities Ontario helps attract investment to the province by assisting key employees recruited by investors to obtain permanent resident status.
How it helps individuals
For foreign workers and international students, Opportunities Ontario may be a pathway to permanent resident status. However, it is important to understand that in most instances Opportunities Ontario is employer-driven. That means you can only apply if you have a permanent full-time job offer, your employer is pre-screened and the position is approved by Opportunities Ontario.
