Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) Reopening and launch of online application systems: Questions

The International Masters Graduate and International PhD Graduate Streams have reached their first intake limits.  When will you reopen these streams to applications?

The OINP will resume accepting applications for these streams within the next three months.  Please check the OINP Updates webpage on May 1, 2017 for an update on when these streams will likely reopen.

To ensure processing efficiency and quality customer service, the OINP is monitoring the volume of applications to the International Masters Graduate, International PhD Graduate, and Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities streams throughout the year, and will be responsive to demand.

These three streams will be paused and reopened periodically until the province’s 2017 federal allocation is fulfilled.  Stakeholders will be informed when streams are temporarily paused and reopened via the OINP Updates webpage.

The high demand for the OINP demonstrates that Ontario is a destination of choice for skilled workers, international students and experienced entrepreneurs.

How many applications in total will you accept for each of the International Masters Graduate, International PhD Graduate  and Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Streams?

The OINP continues to accept online applications under the Entrepreneur Stream and French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, and paper-based applications to the Corporate stream. There will be no limit to applications for these streams.

All applications are processed in the order received.

You reached your intake limit on the International Masters Graduate and International PhD Streams, how do I know if my application is still being processed or not?

If you successfully submitted your online application, you will have received a confirmation email with a notification that your application was received.

If you have successfully created a registration for the International Masters Graduate Stream or International PhD Graduate Stream and received a confirmation number from the OINP e-Filing System, you may continue with your application. You have seven calendar days to complete your application after registering.

You may log in to your ONe-key account at any time to view the status of your registration and/or application. If you have registered for more than one OINP stream, you can manage all of your registrations and/or applications from your ONe-key account.

Please see the application guides for each stream for more information: International Masters Graduate Stream; International PhD Graduate Stream; and Ontario Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream.

Does the limit on the intake of applications and an online application system mean that applications will now be processed faster?  How long will it take?

The program is using an intake limit to ensure processing efficiency and quality customer service. Combined with the online application system, our goal is to improve client experience, improve processing times and make it easier to apply.

A new feature of the OINP online application system is that applicants will now be able to check the status of their application directly through the OINP e-Filing Portal. You may log in to your ONe-key account at any time to view the status of your registration and/or application. If you have registered for more than one OINP stream, you can manage all of your registrations and/or applications from your ONe-key account.
Our focus at this time is to implement changes to our business processes to expedite processing while maintaining rigorous standards. Once this work has been completed, we will be in a position to develop new benchmarks and metrics.
