May Zheng: My name is Chenmei Zheng. You can call me May. I working GGY Consulting Inc. which is an actuarial software consulting company located in Toronto.
I came to Canada in year of 2000. I did my undergraduate education in University of Manitoba. Then I went to Waterloo for my master degree.
I was thinking to apply my immigration status through the Federal skilled worker program which are really a long program. Like take about two years. Then I heard of Opportunity of Ontario.
Phillip Gold: We heard about Opportunities Ontario through May. She brought it to our attention. She indicated that this might be a way to accelerate her process of becoming an immigrant into Canada.
May: At that time we were really, really in a rush to move our family here so that I would need a legal and a stable status, and then that's why I choose the Opportunity Ontario, because this is a faster process for my family.
Phillip: Turned out to be a godsend to us because it brought us the ability to bring students into the country who have special skills. It's been excellent and it's been really easy to apply. We've had very quick service.
May: And the people there are really, really helpful. They were always available for our questions.
Phillip: We were very successful. We've extended the use of this program. Now we've had six or seven people go through this program.
May: My life now in Canada is fantastic. We're glad that we made the decision to make Canada our home.
Phillip: Well besides cutting down on the paperwork and accelerating the process of this program, it's focussed on people with special skills that the country needs and these people are young people, very skilled people, and they're going to make excellent citizens and really contribute to the country so I'm very proud to be associated with that process.
May: Opportunity of Ontario is really a wonderful program.
