York Region

York Region Immigration Portal

York Region is home to over one million people, in nine thriving communities. York is a growing and diverse region, with nearly half of its population made up of immigrants.

York is located directly north of Toronto, in some of the most protected greenspace in Ontario. In fact, about one third of the region is within the environmentally sensitive Oak Ridges Moraine. The region is also known for its countless arts, entertainment and cultural venues.

With its growing multicultural population, York Region has become a destination for significant new business investment now comprising over 86,101 enterprises. While it is home to a large number of corporations, the small, innovative business sector is thriving. Manufacturing, business services, biotechnology, scientific research and development and information technology are key sectors that are driving York Region’s economy.

The nine municipalities - Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, King, Markham, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitchurch-Stouffville, cover an area of 1,776 square kilometres and offer a distinctive and exceptional quality of life to live, learn, work and play.
